Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients’ functional abilities and occupational needs to build person-centered plans
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that promote independence in ADLs
- Use therapeutic activities, adaptive equipment, and education to improve outcomes
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and discharge planning
- Document evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries accurately and timely
- Coach patients and families on home programs and adaptive strategies for daily life
Qualifications
- Current, active Occupational Therapist license in North Carolina or eligibility to obtain one
- OTR (or relevant state credential) preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or willingness to obtain
- Clinical experience in acute rehab, skilled nursing, or similar settings preferred
- Strong clinical reasoning, documentation skills, and ability to work with diverse teams
- Clear communicator who can engage patients, families, and interdisciplinary staff
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy (or accredited entry-level OTD)
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in ADL assessment and adaptive equipment recommendations
- Familiarity with therapeutic techniques for mobility, cognition, and upper-extremity function
- Proficient documentation and electronic medical record entry
- Ability to lead patient- and family-centered education
- Team collaboration and time management in fast-paced rehab settings
