Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients' communication and swallowing abilities using evidence-based evaluation methods
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to improve speech, language, cognition, and swallowing
• Document progress and outcomes clearly and timely in the facility EMR to support continuity of care
• Collaborate closely with rehabilitation team members, families, and caregivers to maximize patient outcomes
• Provide education and training to staff and family members on carryover strategies and safe swallowing techniques
• Monitor and adjust treatment plans based on patient response and interdisciplinary input
• Participate in team meetings, discharge planning, and goal-setting to ensure coordinated care

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related clinical degree
• State SLP license in Massachusetts or eligibility to obtain licensure
• ASHA CCC-SLP preferred or in process
• Experience working with adult rehabilitation populations preferred
• Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain
• Strong clinical documentation skills and comfort using electronic medical records

Education

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in speech, language, cognitive-communication and dysphagia evaluation and treatment
• Skilled in setting measurable goals and tracking functional outcomes
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Ability to prioritize a caseload and manage time efficiently in a busy rehab setting
• Familiarity with rehab-focused documentation standards and regulatory requirements
