Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess respiratory status and develop individualized care plans for patients
• Manage mechanical ventilators and perform ventilator set-up, troubleshooting, and weaning
• Deliver respiratory treatments and therapies with skill and compassion
• Monitor vital signs and ventilator parameters, responding quickly to changes
• Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and the rehab team to optimize patient outcomes
• Document care accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record
• Educate patients and families on respiratory care, equipment use, and discharge plans
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance respiratory services

Qualifications

• Current Respiratory Therapist credential (CRT or RRT) and active state licensure (New Hampshire preferred)
• Experience and comfort managing mechanical ventilators and advanced respiratory equipment
• Current BLS required; ACLS and other advanced certifications preferred
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and patient communication skills
• Ability to work the specified day shift hours and commit to the travel assignment

Education

• Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field required; Bachelor's degree in respiratory therapy or healthcare-related field preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Mechanical ventilator management and modes (AC, SIMV, PSV, etc.)
• Arterial blood gas interpretation and ventilator adjustments based on ABGs
• Airway management, secretion clearance techniques, and oxygen therapy
• Infection control practices and prevention of ventilator-associated events
• Proficient charting in electronic medical records and clear clinical documentation
• Effective teamwork, clear communication, and patient/family education skills
