Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert respiratory care and ventilator management for acute patients, ensuring safety and comfort
- Perform thorough respiratory assessments and develop individualized care plans
- Initiate, adjust, and monitor mechanical ventilator settings in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
- Deliver airway management, oxygen therapy, and aerosol treatments with precision and empathy
- Interpret arterial blood gases and other respiratory diagnostics to guide clinical decisions
- Document interventions and patient responses clearly and promptly to support continuity of care
- Coach patients and families on respiratory techniques and discharge planning when appropriate
Qualifications
- Active Respiratory Care Practitioner license in New Hampshire or eligible for state licensure
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) preferred
- Current BLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred or able to obtain
- Experience with ventilator management and acute care respiratory protocols
- Comfortable working overnight shifts and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams
- Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and clear communication skills
Education
- Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or completion of an accredited respiratory care program; Bachelor’s degree in a related field is a plus
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in ventilator setup, troubleshooting, and weaning strategies
- Skilled in airway management, oxygen delivery systems, and aerosol therapies
- Knowledgeable in arterial blood gas interpretation and respiratory diagnostics
- Familiar with documentation best practices and electronic medical records
- Ability to teach and coach patients and families on respiratory care
