Roles & Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, inspect and prepare surgical instruments and trays to ensure patient safety
• Perform sterile processing tasks including instrument sterilization, packaging, and quality checks
• Operate and monitor sterilization equipment such as Sterad, Steris 1, washer disinfection and steam sterilizers
• Support the Operating Room team by ensuring timely, accurate delivery of sterile sets
• Maintain strict infection control and documentation standards following facility policies
• Participate in orientation and required competency checks to keep skills current

Qualifications

• Certified through IAHCSMM or CBSPD (required)
• Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CSPDT) verification required
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of sterile processing experience
• Experience with Sterad, Steris 1, washer disinfection and steam disinfection
• Familiarity with Cerner charting system preferred
• Completion of required 12-hour orientation as part of onboarding

Knowledge & Skills

• Sterile processing and instrument sterilization best practices
• Decontamination workflows and packaging techniques
• Infection control principles and sterile technique
• Operation/monitoring of Sterad and Steris sterilizers, washer disinfectors and steam sterilizers
• OR support and effective communication with surgical teams
• Electronic charting experience (Cerner) and accurate documentation
