Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (both day and night). Day shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM; Night shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM. Typical schedule: 3x12s per week (36 guaranteed hours), includes weekends (minimum 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule) and holiday coverage (minimum 1 minor and 1 major holiday). Schedules are self-scheduled but moved based on unit needs; travelers are often first to float between campuses.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and oxygen saturations continuously to keep patients safe
- Obtain baseline ECG strips on all monitored patients and record post-cardiac strips per protocol
- Recognize and promptly report arrhythmias that could alter patient physiology to the responsible RN
- Maintain and manage monitor alarms to protocol, troubleshoot routine technical issues, and submit work orders as needed
- Update and verify patient data in the charting system (Cerner) so the care team has accurate information
- Provide clear, accurate shift reports about patients’ rhythm status and condition
- Handle incoming/outgoing communications and assist staff with duties within your scope
- Float between Mercy Downtown and Mercy Southwest campuses as needed to support patient care
Qualifications
- BLS (AHA) required — keep that certification current
- Successful completion of a dysrhythmia course and demonstrated rhythm interpretation competency prior to working independently
- Acute Care Monitor Tech experience required — you'll hit the ground running
- Minimum ~2 years of relevant experience preferred
- Comfort with floating between campuses and a 30-minute response time if placed on standby
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Additional technical training or completion of a dysrhythmia course strongly preferred
- BSN not required for this role
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong rhythm recognition and rhythm strip acquisition skills
- Experience with GE and Philips monitoring equipment (unit dependent)
- Familiarity with Cerner charting and patient data entry
- Alarm management and basic troubleshooting skills
- Clear communication and concise shift reporting
- Team-oriented mindset with a positive, professional attitude
