Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts including day/evening/night: 06:30 AM - 03:00 PM; 03:00 PM - 11:00 PM; 11:00 PM - 07:00 AM. Includes scheduled call (11:00 PM - 07:00 AM, approximately 1x/week on weekdays) and 8-hour weekend coverage as assigned. Schedule includes weekdays and weekends with every-other-week call; day and evening coverage expected.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms and instruments for surgical procedures, ensuring sterile technique and readiness
• Assist surgeons and perioperative team throughout procedures by anticipating needs and passing instruments
• Maintain strict adherence to infection control and patient safety protocols
• Manage surgical instruments and counts accurately to support safe patient outcomes
• Document perioperative care in the electronic charting system (Cerner) with attention to detail
• Collaborate with OR nurses, anesthesiologists, and other team members to optimize patient flow and efficiency
• Participate in call rotations and provide reliable coverage for emergent cases

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA required
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience preferred
• Demonstrated experience with trauma, orthopedics, vascular, and general surgery cases
• Comfortable working rotating 12-hour shifts, nights, weekends, and call
• Experience with Cerner or other electronic medical record/charting systems preferred
• Active licensure/certification as required by state regulations

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of sterile technique and instrument handling
• Familiarity with OR workflow, surgical instrumentation, and case setup
• Ability to prioritize tasks in high-acuity, fast-paced environments
• Competence in trauma, orthopedic, vascular, and general surgery procedures
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in multidisciplinary settings
• Attention to detail for accurate counts, instrument tracking, and documentation
• Basic computer skills for Cerner charting and electronic documentation
