Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (8-hour day shifts; start times vary between 7:00 AM and 10:00 AM depending on case schedule); Call coverage: Monday-Friday 3:00 PM - 7:00 AM (overnight/on-call) and Saturday-Sunday 7:00 AM - 7:00 AM (24-hour weekend call). Required: 2 M-F call shifts per week and 2 weekend days per month. Rotating day and night coverage.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, high-quality nursing care for patients undergoing GI and endoscopy procedures
• Prepare patients for procedures including pre-procedural assessments and patient education
• Administer and monitor procedural sedation, responding promptly to changes in patient status
• Assist physicians during ERCP, EGD, PEG and other endoscopic and occasional OR procedures
• Document care thoroughly and accurately in the Cerner EMR system
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including RT, pharmacy and tech staff to ensure smooth workflows
• Provide post-procedure monitoring and discharge teaching to patients and families
• Participate in on-call coverage and respond to urgent needs during assigned call shifts
• Adhere to infection control, safety standards and unit-specific protocols

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing (California or compact as applicable)
• BSN required
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care nursing experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Demonstrated procedural sedation competency (or successful completion of facility competency testing)
• Cerner EMR experience required
• GI certification preferred and GI tech experience a plus
• Willingness to work scheduled call shifts and required weekend coverage

Education

• BSN in Nursing (required)
• Active RN license

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with Cerner charting and electronic documentation
• Strong knowledge of GI/endoscopy procedures (ERCP, EGD, PEG and all scopes)
• Skilled in sedation monitoring, airway management basics and peri-procedural care
• Ability to function in a fast-paced acute care endoscopy suite with 15-30 procedures/day
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills with physicians and interdisciplinary staff
• Familiarity with OR transfers for GI procedures and bronchoscopy support with RT
• Detail-oriented approach to safety, infection control and patient education
