Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate patient assessment and hands-on medical-surgical care across multiple units
• Float between Medical, Laulima (surgical acute), and occasional Cardiovascular units as needed
• Safely manage specialty equipment such as wound VACs, chest tubes and Pyxis medication systems
• Document care accurately in Meditech EMR and maintain clear communication with the care team
• Participate in unit-specific orientation and maintain competencies for varied clinical settings
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to advocate for patients and improve outcomes
• Prioritize patient safety and follow professional dress code and infection control policies

Qualifications

• Active Hawaii RN license required by start of assignment (travelers must obtain State of HI license upon acceptance)
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience (position indicates 2–10 years typical)
• BLS and ACLS required; PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, ENPC are preferred
• Comfortable with night shift nursing and experience as a Flex/Float RN
• Ability to manage medical-surgical caseloads and adapt to varying nurse-to-patient ratios

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with Meditech EMR and Pyxis medication systems
• Strong medical-surgical nursing skills, including patient assessment and critical thinking
• Experience with wound VAC management and chest tube care
• Ability to float between units while maintaining high-quality care
• Excellent communication, time management, and teamwork skills
