Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (8-hour day) or 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM (10-hour day) with on-call responsibilities: one weeknight per week (overnight until 7:00 AM next morning) and three 24-hour weekend call days per month; rotating day shifts with night/overnight call as required

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert intraoperative support by scrubbing and passing for a variety of cases including orthopedics, neuro (cranial), ENT and urology
• Independently perform cranial procedures and confidently take neuro-trauma call when scheduled
• Support orthopedic total joint and level II trauma cases, including robotic-assisted procedures when needed
• Maintain sterile technique, instrument counts, and patient safety standards on every case
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and OR staff to keep cases on time and patients safe
• Chart accurately in EPIC and communicate clear perioperative documentation
• Follow facility policies (including fingernail/artificial nail policy) and model professional behavior

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of OR/Surgical Tech experience (orthopedic trauma and total joint experience strongly preferred)
• Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred but not strictly required
• BLS certification required prior to start
• Proven competency in neuro/cranial procedures and ability to take neuro-trauma call
• Comfortable scrubbing and working in high-acuity, fast-paced OR settings
• Familiarity with EPIC charting system
• Willingness to work call (weeknights, occasional 24-hour weekend call and holidays) and be flexible with assignments

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• Surgical Technologist certification (CST) preferred
• BLS certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong scrub skills and instrument knowledge for general, ortho and neuro cases
• Experience with Da Vinci robotics, Mako, Stealth and Scopis systems is a plus
• Excellent sterile technique, counts management and intraoperative problem solving
• Quick decision-making under pressure and clear communication with OR teams
• Ability to chart accurately in Epic and follow hospital documentation standards
• Professionalism regarding facility policies (e.g., fingernail/artificial nail rules) and teamwork
