Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality perinatal and obstetric ultrasound exams with attention to fetal anatomy and maternal assessment
• Document and communicate imaging findings clearly in the medical record and to the care team
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and allied health staff to support excellent perinatal care
• Ensure equipment is properly calibrated and maintained for accurate, safe imaging
• Provide compassionate patient instruction and support during examinations
• Adhere to departmental protocols, quality assurance activities, and infection control standards
• Travel between Santa Maria and San Luis Obispo locations as needed to meet patient care demands

Qualifications

• RDMS-OB/GYN credential (required)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (required)
• Perinatal ultrasound experience (required) with at least 3 years of relevant experience
• Ability to work Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM and travel between sites
• Active state licensure or ability to obtain required licenses for California
• Strong patient communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively in an acute care setting

Education

• Completion of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program or equivalent training preferred
• Additional certifications or continuing education in obstetric/perinatal sonography encouraged

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in obstetric/perinatal ultrasound techniques and fetal imaging
• Knowledge of fetal anatomy, growth assessment, and perinatal protocols
• Experience with Cerner or similar electronic charting systems
• Strong documentation, time management, and critical thinking skills
• Comfortable operating ultrasound equipment and troubleshooting basic technical issues
• Compassionate patient care and clear communication with multidisciplinary teams
