Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care for stepdown/PCU patients across the adult lifespan
• Monitor and interpret telemetry strips and cardiac rhythms to detect changes early
• Titrate IV drips and administer medications safely per unit protocols
• Perform thorough assessments, develop nursing plans, and communicate changes to the care team
• Document accurately and timely in EPIC to maintain clear, compliant patient records
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, CNAs, and ancillary staff to coordinate patient care
• Support admissions, discharges, and transfers to keep patient flow moving smoothly
• Participate in bedside reporting, hourly rounding, and patient experience initiatives

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible for Nebraska) required
• Minimum 2 years clinical experience in telemetry, stepdown/PCU, or progressive care
• Current BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS required
• Comfortable titrating drips such as heparin, amiodarone, diltiazem, nitroglycerin, insulin
• Experience with EPIC charting strongly preferred
• Valid driver’s license required at time of submission
• Able to work every-other weekend and holidays as needed; must meet radius/employment restrictions

Education

• Active RN license
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation
• IV medication titration and drip management
• Familiarity with BiPAP and high-flow devices (Airvo)
• Strong assessment, prioritization, and clinical judgment skills
• Effective interdisciplinary communication and teamwork
• Ability to mentor and work alongside CNAs and tech staff
• Comfort with fast-paced admissions/discharges and variable census
