Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality telemetry and medical-surgical nursing care for a 29-bed unit, maintaining safe 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratios
• Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and interpret ECG strips confidently to identify dysrhythmias
• Administer and titrate cardiac medications (e.g., amiodarone, diltiazem/Cardizem) per protocols
• Chart accurately and timely in Cerner to ensure clear communication of patient status
• Collaborate with physicians, RT, pharmacy, and unit supervisor to coordinate complex care needs
• Support new grads and participate in unit mentorship as part of a clinical scholar training environment
• Respond to emergencies, escalate concerns appropriately, and use hospital resources (SWAT nurse, central monitor tech) effectively

Qualifications

• Active RN license eligible to submit in state of Arizona
• Minimum 2 years recent (within past 6 months) MedSurg/Telemetry nursing experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Ability to read and interpret ECG strips; must pass dysrhythmia exam (max 2 attempts, within 48 hours of offer)
• Successful completion of a pass/fail simulation lab on day one of orientation
• Comfort with GE monitors, central monitoring workflows, and Spectralink phone systems
• Ability to float to sister units and work required weekend shifts

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma required; BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Medical-surgical patient assessment and prioritization
• Medication titration basics for cardiac meds (amiodarone, Cardizem/diltiazem)
• Charting and documentation in Cerner
• Familiarity with GE central monitoring systems
• Strong communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills
• Basic IV/venipuncture troubleshooting (house SWAT nurse available for hard sticks)
