Shift Type: Rotating nights, 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM; schedule includes night rotations with self-scheduling, typically 3-4 shifts per week and 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks, with holiday rotation

Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert, patient-centered nursing care for neuro and epilepsy patients on a telemetry unit
- Perform continuous telemetry monitoring and promptly assess and escalate dysrhythmias
- Conduct focused neurological assessments, including cranial nerve checks and trend observations
- Maintain sterile technique and competently perform Foley catheter insertions and central line dressing changes
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (RT, pharmacy, SWAT/IV team, hospitalists/intensivists) to optimize patient outcomes
- Document accurately in Cerner and communicate clear handoffs during shift changes
- Participate in unit safety practices including lifts, restraints education, and wound care protocols
- Act as a reliable resource during charge shifts and support med-surg/telefloors when needed
Qualifications
- Current RN license (or eligible to obtain) — willing to wait acceptable per submission guidance
- Minimum 2 years clinical nursing experience; MUST have Level 1 trauma experience
- Current BLS and ACLS required
- Telemetry/Med-Surg experience and dysrhythmia competency (must pass dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance)
- Competency or willingness to demonstrate Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing change skills (SIMs Lab pass/fail)
- Familiarity with Cerner charting system
- Ability to pass facility appearance and fit-test requirements (natural hair color, no facial piercings; clean shave for fit test if applicable)
- Own vehicle and valid driver's license for travel team requirements
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong critical thinking and patient assessment — detect subtle clinical changes quickly
- EEG/epilepsy monitoring familiarity and ability to care for epilepsy specialty rooms
- Neuro-focused skills: cranial nerve assessments, TBI and post-op brain tumor care
- Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition
- Sterile technique and infection prevention for line care
- Comfort working with BiPAP and collaborating with Respiratory Therapy
- Wound care basics, lift and restraint knowledge, and teamwork with IV/SWAT resources
