Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert nursing care on a Neuro Acute telemetry unit with a focus on epilepsy monitoring and trending EEGs
• Perform continuous telemetry monitoring and interpret dysrhythmias accurately (must pass dysrhythmia exam)
• Assess neuro status and detect subtle changes in condition using strong critical thinking
• Maintain sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes as required
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including RT, pharmacy, hospitalists and SWAT IV team
• Participate in SIMs Lab and competency validations to ensure safe, standardized practice
• Float to MedSurg/Tele floors when needed and adjust care priorities accordingly
• Support unit workflow as charge RN or resource RN when called upon

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Arizona or Compact License accepted
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Level 1 trauma experience is a must
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• Proven telemetry/ECG interpretation skills and ability to pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to start
• Comfortable with Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing change competencies
• Experience with Cerner charting preferred
• Willingness to complete SIMs Lab and unit-specific orientation; clean fit test (men) and facility appearance expectations apply

Education

• Active RN license (required)
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition
• MedSurg fundamentals with Telemetry skills
• Neuro assessment including cranial nerve training (training provided)
• Seizure and epilepsy patient care and EEG trend interpretation
• Critical thinking, rapid patient assessment and escalation
• Sterile technique and procedural competency for Foley and central line care
• Familiarity with ventilator support basics (Bipap) and working with RT
• Electronic charting in Cerner
