Roles & Responsibilities
- Obtain and record vital signs and patient histories accurately to support clinical decisions
- Room patients and prepare them for exams with professionalism and compassion
- Perform specimen collection, labeling, and basic lab tests including glucometer checks
- Administer injections and immunizations within scope and follow proper documentation
- Perform venipuncture and assist with procedures as needed, maintaining safety and comfort
- Manage telephone triage, refill requests, and pharmacy communications with clear, timely responses
- Process prior authorizations and in-basket referrals to keep patient care moving
- Support behavioral health visits by welcoming and communicating effectively with psychiatric patients
- Administer TB tests, assist with suture removal, and provide nebulizer treatments when indicated
Qualifications
- MA-C certification required (MA-R not accepted)
- BLS certification required
- Minimum ~1 year of healthcare experience preferred; first-timers accepted
- Proven experience with Epic charting required
- Comfort working in an adult outpatient clinic setting, especially behavioral health
- Reliable transportation required for travel/local coverage
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- MA-C certification required; BLS required
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in Epic and outpatient charting workflows
- Strong knowledge of healthcare terminology and patient documentation
- Skilled in obtaining vital signs, venipuncture, specimen collection, and injections
- Experience with immunizations, TB testing, and basic point-of-care testing (glucometer)
- Comfortable with telephone triage, prescription refill processing, and prior authorizations
- Ability to assist with procedures and provide compassionate care for behavioral health patients
