Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform outpatient nuclear medicine procedures including SPECT imaging and myocardial studies
- Administer and monitor PET scan-related procedures and pharmacological stress when indicated
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals safely and accurately, including Lexiscan protocols
- Draw venous blood samples and manage specimen handling with attention to quality and labeling
- Operate and maintain imaging equipment (GE, Philips, Siemens) and report any issues promptly
- Document procedures, results and patient interactions in EPIC with clear, professional charting
- Provide patient education and reassurance before, during and after imaging procedures
- Follow radiation safety protocols and facility policies to protect patients and staff
Qualifications
- CNMT, NMTCB or ARRT (required) — bring one of these certifications to qualify
- BLS required; ACLS preferred
- Pending state license accepted at hire but must have the state license in hand within 4 weeks
- New grads welcome — first-timers accepted; 1 year experience is acceptable/preferred
- Familiarity with outpatient nuclear medicine workflows and patient populations (adults/geriatrics)
- Comfortable using EPIC for charting and documentation
- Completion of 40-hour orientation as required by facility
Education
- Completion of an accredited radiologic/nuclear medicine training program or AMA rad tech training
- ARRT advanced certification or CNMT/NMTCB certification as required
Knowledge & Skills
- SPECT (Single-Photon Emission CT) and PET imaging skills
- Myocardial imaging and pharmacological stress testing experience
- Experience with Lexiscan and cardiac stress protocols
- Venous blood draw technique and radiopharmaceutical preparation
- Familiarity with GE, Philips and Siemens imaging systems
- Sestamibi parathyroid, bone, brain, liver and renal scan experience
- Basic EKG knowledge and integration with nuclear cardiology studies
- Strong patient communication, radiation safety and EPIC charting skills
