Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform and assist with diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures with precision and calm
- Place, monitor, and manage pulmonary artery (Swan-Ganz) catheters and advanced hemodynamic monitoring
- Administer and monitor procedural and conscious sedation safely, maintaining vigilant patient assessment
- Interpret and manage dysrhythmias during procedures to support optimal patient outcomes
- Provide 1:1 patient care throughout procedures, ensuring comfort, safety and effective communication
- Document thoroughly and accurately in Epic to support continuity of care and quality reporting
- Collaborate with physicians, techs, pharmacy, transport and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate efficient care
- Adapt to floating assignments across network facilities while maintaining high standards of care
- Educate patients and families about procedures, recovery expectations and post-procedure care
Qualifications
- Current RN license in good standing (state licensure required for practice in Oregon)
- Minimum 1 year of Cath Lab experience required; 1st-time travelers welcome with Cath Lab exposure
- Certifications: BLS required; ACLS preferred
- Proven competency with cardiac catheterization procedures (left and right heart cath, interventional cath)
- Experience with pulmonary artery (Swan-Ganz) monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
- Comfort with procedural and conscious sedation administration/monitoring
- Charting experience in Epic required
- Reliable vehicle required for this assignment and ability to float to multiple facilities as needed
- Willingness to complete a 40-hour orientation
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization processes
- Skilled in hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation of Swan-Ganz data
- Ability to recognize and manage cardiac dysrhythmias
- Competence in administering and monitoring procedural and conscious sedation
- Proficient Epic charting skills
- Excellent communication, teamwork and adaptability for floating between units
- Sterile technique, catheterization lab workflow and acute patient assessment
