Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM (Day); 5x8 schedule (40 hrs/week) with required weekend coverage as scheduled

Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and evaluate adult patients across acuity levels using evidence-based SLP assessments, including bedside swallow evaluations
- Develop and implement individualized plans of care focused on dysphagia management, communication, and functional outcomes
- Perform and participate in MBS-IMP and FEES protocols as required by the unit and complete associated documentation
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing, respiratory therapy and rehab teams to coordinate care, especially for trach/vent and ICU-stepdown patients
- Document thoroughly and accurately in Epic, including SLP evaluation coding, Medicare A/B billing elements, and reassessments
- Provide patient- and family-centered education on compensatory strategies, adaptive equipment and discharge planning options
- Deliver in-service training and contribute to functional maintenance programs to support continuity of care across settings
- Maintain professional competency, complete required certifications (BLS, MBS-IMP) and adhere to facility policies and quality standards
Qualifications
- Active Alaska state SLP license required (pending licenses are not accepted)
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of clinical SLP experience (acute care experience strongly preferred)
- Experience with dysphagia management, bedside swallow evaluation and familiarity with MBS-IMP
- Comfortable working with tracheostomy and ventilator-dependent patients or willingness to be assessed for ICU coverage
- Experience charting in Epic is preferred
- First-time travelers accepted; candidate permanent address must be at least 50 miles from facility
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent (typical requirement for SLP roles)
- ASHA CCC-SLP preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Bedside Swallow Evaluation and Dysphagia Management
- MBS-IMP and interpreting Modified Barium Swallow Studies (Video Fluoroscopy)
- FEES experience or willingness to perform FEES
- SLP evaluation coding, Medicare A and B billing knowledge
- Tracheostomy and ventilator-dependent patient care
- Augmentative and alternative communication strategies and devices
- Patient/family education, discharge planning and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Strong documentation skills in Epic and commitment to timely reassessments
