Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients across the continuum (outpatient, acute care, SNF) and create individualized evaluations
- Develop, document, and implement clear plans of care and measurable goals
- Provide hands-on treatment and therapeutic interventions including gait training, adaptive equipment training, and mobilization
- Deliver specialty care as needed — wound care, lymphedema management, pelvic floor therapy, and pediatric services
- Educate patients and families with practical home exercise programs and safety strategies to maximize recovery
- Float within scope across outpatient, acute care, and SNF settings to meet facility needs and keep care seamless
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes
- Maintain accurate charting in Epic and complete timely reassessments and discharge documentation
Qualifications
- Current Alaska Physical Therapy license (AK license required; pending licenses are not accepted)
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of clinical physical therapy experience
- Experience with Epic or other electronic charting systems highly preferred
- Comfort working across settings (outpatient, acute care, and skilled nursing) — ability to float as needed
- Willingness to work some weekends as required by the facility
- Traveler requirements: permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility (locals not accepted)
Education
- Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy program (DPT preferred) or equivalent
- State licensure (Alaska) required
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in assessment, evaluation, documentation, and plan-of-care development
- Gait training, adaptive device selection, and mobility/transfer training
- Home exercise program design and patient/family education
- Modalities: TENS, ultrasound, e-stim, cryotherapy, diathermy, iontophoresis
- Specialty areas: wound care, lymphedema management, pelvic floor therapy, pediatrics, orthopedics, cardiopulmonary
- Neuro work including Neurodevelopmental Technique (NDT) and post-stroke rehab
- Equipment familiarity: Hoyer lift, gait belts, walkers, specialty beds, prosthetic basics
- Time management, reassessments, and clear, timely Epic charting
