Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead infection prevention surveillance and documentation activities across multiple service lines including surgery, NICU, Cardiac, Critical Care and the Emergency Department
- Perform rounding and advisory duties, educating clinical teams on infection prevention guidelines and best practices
- Manage surveillance documentation in Epic and related systems (Bugsy knowledge a plus)
- Serve in an advisory capacity on infection prevention policy, outbreak investigation and mitigation
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a Level II trauma and teaching hospital environment to improve patient safety
- Analyze microbiology data and surveillance trends to inform prevention strategies and interventions
Qualifications
- CIC (CBIC) certification required
- Minimum 3 years of infection prevention or acute care hospital experience; experience across multiple service lines is a HARD requirement
- Experience with Epic charting and surveillance documentation
- Acceptable backgrounds: Registered Nurse (active license), clinical microbiologist, or Master of Public Health
- Comfortable with rounding, education, and speaking to clinical teams and leadership
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
Education
- RN (active license) or degree in Microbiology or Master of Public Health (MPH) accepted
- CIC (CBIC) certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Infection prevention principles and surveillance methods
- Surveillance documentation and reporting (Epic and Bugsy familiarity)
- Outbreak investigation and mitigation strategies
- Cross-service-line clinical knowledge (surgery, NICU, cardiac, critical care, ER)
- Strong communication and advisory skills for clinical education and policy implementation
- Basic microbiology concepts to interpret lab data
