Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead infection prevention surveillance and documentation activities across multiple service lines including surgery, NICU, Cardiac, Critical Care and the Emergency Department
• Perform rounding and advisory duties, educating clinical teams on infection prevention guidelines and best practices
• Manage surveillance documentation in Epic and related systems (Bugsy knowledge a plus)
• Serve in an advisory capacity on infection prevention policy, outbreak investigation and mitigation
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a Level II trauma and teaching hospital environment to improve patient safety
• Analyze microbiology data and surveillance trends to inform prevention strategies and interventions

Qualifications

• CIC (CBIC) certification required
• Minimum 3 years of infection prevention or acute care hospital experience; experience across multiple service lines is a HARD requirement
• Experience with Epic charting and surveillance documentation
• Acceptable backgrounds: Registered Nurse (active license), clinical microbiologist, or Master of Public Health
• Comfortable with rounding, education, and speaking to clinical teams and leadership
• Teaching hospital experience preferred

Education

• RN (active license) or degree in Microbiology or Master of Public Health (MPH) accepted
• CIC (CBIC) certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Infection prevention principles and surveillance methods
• Surveillance documentation and reporting (Epic and Bugsy familiarity)
• Outbreak investigation and mitigation strategies
• Cross-service-line clinical knowledge (surgery, NICU, cardiac, critical care, ER)
• Strong communication and advisory skills for clinical education and policy implementation
• Basic microbiology concepts to interpret lab data
