Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide advanced respiratory care and ventilator management for critically ill adults and children in the ICU
• Respond rapidly to patient deterioration and codes, performing airway management and emergency respiratory procedures
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized respiratory plans
• Perform arterial blood gas sampling and interpret results to guide ventilator adjustments
• Document all respiratory assessments, treatments and ventilator changes accurately in Epic
• Float between like units as needed to meet facility needs while maintaining high standards of care
• Support patient's families with clear communication about respiratory therapies and progress

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
• Minimum 2 years' clinical experience (ICU experience strongly preferred)
• Active state respiratory therapist license (pending licenses not accepted) — ability to hold North Carolina licensure preferred
• Comfortable and experienced caring for both adult and pediatric ICU patients
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS and PALS highly preferred
• Ability to work night shifts, every-other-weekend rotation, holidays and float between units as needed
• Excellent clinical judgment, strong communication skills and reliable attendance

Education

• Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent from an accredited program

Knowledge & Skills

• Advanced knowledge of invasive and non-invasive ventilator management
• Proficiency interpreting arterial blood gases and titrating therapies
• Experience with critical care monitoring and airway management
• Familiarity with Epic for documentation and electronic charting
• Strong infection control practices and patient safety focus
• Teamwork mindset and ability to collaborate across disciplines
