Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess pediatric and infant patients using age-appropriate tools (PDMS-2 commonly used here)
• Develop and implement individualized plans of care focused on developmental progress and functional goals
• Provide hands-on interventions including AROM/AAROM/PROM and adaptive equipment training
• Educate patients and their families with clear, practical home exercise programs and strategies for carryover
• Document thoroughly and efficiently in Epic to maintain continuity of care and meet facility standards
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team across outpatient and acute settings when needed
• Perform reassessments and discharge planning, ensuring safe transitions and clear follow-up recommendations
• Meet productivity expectations while delivering high-quality, patient-centered pediatric care

Qualifications

• Current California Physical Therapy license required (pending licenses not accepted)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience; first-timers are accepted when they meet core competency expectations
• Infant population experience is a hard requirement — must be comfortable and proficient with infants
• Comfortable charting in Epic and performing independent outpatient assessments
• Ability to work with pediatric diagnoses such as developmental delays, cerebral palsy, torticollis, and mild orthopedic injuries
• Flexibility to float into the acute hospital if outpatient census drops (acute care experience preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Pediatric assessment and milestone evaluation (PDMS-2 familiarity preferred)
• AROM/AAROM/PROM techniques and safe handling of infants and children
• Home Exercise Program design and patient/family education
• Experience with adaptive equipment and assistive devices
• Scoliosis screening and torticollis management basics
• Documenting evaluations, plans of care, reassessments, and discharges in Epic
• Comfort delivering outpatient medical-based pediatric PT (not school-based)
• Ability to manage a patient load consistent with facility productivity (approximately 7-8 patients/day)
