Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts. Day shift examples: 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM (also starts at 9:00 AM or 12:00 PM). Night shift examples: 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM (varied night starts between 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM). Schedule includes every other weekend (Friday-Sunday) as a requirement, may be every weekend depending on staffing, and includes holiday coverage. Shift type: rotating (day/night).
Hours per Week: 63
Candidate Pay Rate: $68 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and triage patients rapidly in a high-volume ER environment to prioritize lifesaving care
- Administer medications and treatments safely, following provider orders and ER protocols
- Monitor and document vital signs and patient status using Cerner PowerChart
- Provide fast track care for lower-acuity patients while supporting acute care areas as needed
- Collaborate with physicians, PAs, NPs, RTs, techs, and phlebotomists to coordinate efficient patient flow
- Lead and delegate during shifts as charge responsibilities and patient acuity demand
- Respond to STEMI, stroke, sepsis, DKA, and other critical presentations with confidence and timely intervention
- Maintain clear, compassionate communication with patients and families during high-stress situations
Qualifications
- Active RN license eligible to submit in the state of California
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; trauma or ER experience preferred
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS
- Comfortable working 12-hour rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Experience with high-volume emergency settings and triage processes
- Familiarity with Cerner PowerChart or willingness to learn quickly
- Strong teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills
Education
- Active RN license (required)
- BSN not required for this role
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient assessment and rapid triage in emergency settings
- Medication administration and IV management
- Vital sign monitoring and interpretation for acute patients
- Trauma and emergency care principles
- Electronic Medical Records proficiency, specifically Cerner PowerChart
- Ability to manage high patient volumes (facility sees approximately 250 visits/day)
- Time management, critical thinking, and calm decision-making under pressure
