Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor telemetry and identify ECG rhythms, documenting strips and findings each shift
• Provide expert tracheostomy and ostomy care, ensuring comfort and safety
• Perform thorough patient assessments and escalate changes in condition using SBAR
• Deliver bedside report and participate in SIBR and multidisciplinary rounds
• Manage central lines and Foley care according to unit policy and document in Meditech
• Conduct purposeful hourly rounding to proactively address patient needs
• Administer and document PCA and medication management with two-RN verification when required
• Collaborate with the charge RN, physicians, interns and residents to coordinate care
• Use AIDET communication to keep patients and families informed and comfortable
• Maintain unit routines including whiteboard updates, timely chart checks and process intervention documentation

Qualifications

• Current RN license (state of practice or compact)
• Minimum 2 years clinical nursing experience, preferably med/surg or telemetry
• Proficiency with Meditech documentation and order acknowledgement
• Demonstrated competence in tracheostomy care and ostomy care
• Comfortable with telemetry monitoring and ECG rhythm identification
• Experience with Philips monitors and Alaris infusion pumps preferred
• Skilled in central line and Foley care and documentation
• Willingness to work weekends and participate in 12-hour shift rotations
• Strong communication skills, including SBAR and AIDET style interactions
• Team-oriented attitude and experience precepting or coaching is a plus

• Telemetry monitoring and ECG rhythm interpretation
• Meditech electronic medical record navigation and documentation
• Tracheostomy and ostomy care best practices
• Central line maintenance and CHG/sterile technique familiarity
• Hourly rounding protocols and bedside reporting
• PCA management and continuous pulse oximetry monitoring
• Comfort with common med/surg diagnoses including post-op care, CHF and COPD
• Operating Philips monitors and Alaris pumps, and working within unit safety protocols
