Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to medical-surgical telemetry patients
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond promptly and appropriately to telemetry alarms
- Perform thorough patient assessments and implement individualized care plans
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and multidisciplinary staff to coordinate care
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and safe discharge plans
- Document care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record
- Assist with admissions, transfers, and safe patient handoffs to maintain continuity of care
- Contribute to a positive unit culture by mentoring colleagues and participating in quality improvement
Qualifications
- Current, active RN license in Hawaii or eligibility to obtain Hawaii licensure
- Experience or strong interest in Medical-Surgical nursing and telemetry monitoring
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Comfortable working 12-hour shifts and managing multiple acute patients
- Strong clinical assessment skills, critical thinking, and effective communication
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
- Medical-surgical patient care best practices
- IV therapy, medication administration, and nursing assessments
- Prioritization, time management, and delegation skills
- Patient and family education with a focus on safety and transitions of care
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
