Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming)
- Support safe mobility and transfers using proper technique
- Monitor and record vital signs and changes in condition accurately
- Document care and communicate resident status to the nursing team
- Create a warm, respectful environment that preserves dignity and independence
- Collaborate with nurses and care staff to deliver consistent, high-quality care
Qualifications
- Valid GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification — required
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- State certification or registration as required by Maryland regulations
- Comfort working with older adults and those with chronic conditions
- Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
- Reliable, punctual, and able to pass background and health screenings
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an approved GNA program or equivalent training
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of geriatric care principles and resident-centered practices
- Familiarity with infection control and safety protocols
- Skill with safe transfer and lifting techniques
- Basic charting and documentation skills
- Ability to observe and report subtle changes in resident condition
- Empathy, patience, and excellent interpersonal skills
