Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with kindness and respect
• Provide safe and attentive night-time care, including toileting assistance and fall prevention
• Monitor and report changes in resident condition to the nursing team promptly
• Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Document care accurately and timely in resident charts and handoffs
• Communicate compassionately with residents and families to support comfort and dignity
• Collaborate with nursing staff to follow care plans and ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

• GNA certification (required) or equivalent state credential
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Eligible for or listed on Maryland nurse aide registry
• Ability to pass background check, TB screening, and required immunizations
• Comfort working night shifts and providing hands-on care in a long-term care setting
• Strong communication skills and a patient, compassionate approach

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an approved GNA program and state certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Skilled in safe resident handling, mobility assistance, and fall prevention
• Basic vital signs monitoring and recognizing changes in condition
• Accurate charting and documentation practices
• Infection control, hand hygiene, and personal protective equipment use
• Teamwork, time management, and the ability to prioritize resident safety
