Candidate Pay Rate: $58 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Triage every patient entering the emergency care system and prioritize care based on physical and psycho-social needs
- Perform thorough patient assessments and document detailed nursing histories including chief complaint and health status
- Develop and implement individualized plans of care and update them based on continuous assessment
- Manage complications and emergencies following Mount Nittany Medical Center policies and ENA standards
- Perform hourly rounding in the department and half-hour rounding in the waiting room when patients are waiting
- Ensure supplies and equipment are available and functioning to support safe, efficient patient care
- Provide clear, compassionate discharge teaching and document patient understanding
- Educate patients and families about treatments and next steps to support recovery and safety
Qualifications
- Current Pennsylvania RN licensure required
- American Heart Association BLS certification, current and renewed every two years
- AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support ACLS certification, current and renewed every two years
- AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support PALS certification, current and renewed every two years
- Valid National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale NIHSS certification
- Emergency nursing experience with strong triage and patient assessment skills preferred
- EPIC Computer Charting experience preferred
- Excellent verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work calmly under pressure
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient use of the nursing process: assessment, plan of care, implementation and evaluation
- Skilled in triage, patient assessment and care planning across the lifespan from neonate to geriatric
- Solid nursing documentation practices and familiarity with ENA standards
- Discharge planning and patient education that lead to better outcomes
- Ability to recognize changes in patient status and act quickly to ensure safety
- Team-oriented approach and strong interpersonal skills
