Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents, focusing on dignity and respect
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
- Monitor and record vital signs and report any changes to the nursing team
- Support mealtime routines and assist with feeding when needed
- Help maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control protocols
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary staff to support care plans
- Document care accurately and promptly in facility records
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent
- Valid state-required certification/registration for CNA/GNA in Maryland
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Prior experience working with older adults preferred but compassionate, trainable candidates are welcome
- Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a GNA/CNA program preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Comfortable assisting residents with activities of daily living
- Basic vital signs measurement and documentation skills
- Strong observational skills to spot changes in condition
- Good communication and teamwork in a fast-paced care setting
- Knowledge of infection control, safety, and patient dignity practices
- Reliable time management and ability to follow care plans
