Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, and grooming
• Support safe mobility and transfers while using proper body mechanics
• Measure and record vital signs and report any changes to nursing staff
• Provide compassionate feeding assistance and monitor intake as needed
• Maintain clean, comfortable resident environments and follow infection control practices
• Document care accurately and communicate resident needs during shift handoffs
• Engage residents with dignity and respect, promoting independence whenever possible
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support individualized care plans

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent state certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or required per facility
• Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening as required by employer
• Comfort working night shifts and adapting to variable schedules
• Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of a state-approved GNA program or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and resident-centered approaches
• Ability to perform ADLs safely and assist with mobility and transfers
• Basic clinical skills such as taking vitals and observing changes in condition
• Familiarity with charting and documentation best practices
• Good infection control and hygiene practices
• Compassionate bedside manner and patience with older adults
• Teamwork and clear communication with nurses and other care staff
