Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care and assistance with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Assist residents with mobility and safe transfers while using proper body mechanics
- Monitor and record vital signs and resident condition, reporting any changes to nursing staff promptly
- Document care accurately and timely in resident charts to support continuity of care
- Support mealtime assistance and monitor intake, respecting dietary needs and preferences
- Follow infection control practices and maintain a clean, safe environment for residents
- Build meaningful relationships with residents to promote dignity, comfort, and emotional well-being
- Collaborate with nursing staff and interdisciplinary team members to support individualized care plans
Qualifications
- GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or equivalent state CNA certification required
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or obtained upon hire
- Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings, including TB and immunizations
- Comfort working independently on night shifts and communicating effectively with team members
- Compassionate demeanor with patience and strong interpersonal skills
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatrics is a plus but dedicated new graduates are welcome
Education
- High school diploma or GED required; completion of a GNA/CNA training program required
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of ADLs and basic resident care protocols
- Skill measuring and recording vital signs accurately
- Familiarity with infection prevention and safe handling techniques
- Good observational skills to notice and report changes in condition
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Basic charting and documentation skills
