Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients quickly and accurately in the emergency setting to prioritize care
• Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans using the nursing process
• Deliver emergency nursing interventions and treatments with confidence and compassion
• Provide clear, patient-focused education and guidance to patients and families
• Coordinate and direct ancillary staff to ensure smooth, efficient patient care
• Monitor and evaluate patient responses and modify care plans as needed
• Document care, assessments, and patient education thoroughly and professionally

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Current Iowa RN license required
• BCLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required prior to start
• Experience in emergency nursing preferred but new grads with strong ER interest are welcome
• Ability to meet hospital employment & health requirements (immunizations, drug screen, physical, background checks) prior to start

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and triage skills in the emergency setting
• Care planning and implementation of nursing interventions
• Ability to evaluate and adapt to changing patient needs quickly
• Patient and family education delivered with clarity and empathy
• Experience supervising and coordinating ancillary staff workload
• Comfort working night shifts and collaborating in high-acuity situations
