Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and toileting
• Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Observe and report changes in resident condition to the nursing team promptly
• Document care accurately and clearly in resident charts and care plans
• Engage residents in friendly conversation and meaningful activities to promote well-being
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and families to ensure coordinated, person-centered care

Qualifications

• GNA certification (required) or equivalent state nursing assistant credential
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Previous experience working with older adults or in long-term care is a plus
• Ability to pass background check and any required health screenings or immunizations
• Comfortable with physical aspects of the role including lifting and transfers
• Reliable, compassionate, and a strong communicator with both residents and team members

Education

• GNA certification or completion of a state-approved Nursing Assistant program
• High school diploma or GED preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and age-related conditions
• Basic clinical skills: vital signs, ADLs support, and infection control
• Safe patient handling and transfer techniques
• Clear, respectful communication with residents, families, and staff
• Dependable documentation and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently during shifts and escalate concerns appropriately
