Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor medical-surgical patients, providing compassionate, evidence-based care
• Administer medications and treatments accurately while documenting in Meditech
• Perform neurological assessments and assist with bedside procedures like lumbar punctures
• Provide central line care, tube feeding management, wound care, and Foley catheter care
• Operate and troubleshoot feeding pumps and other unit equipment safely
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and update patient care plans
• Educate patients and families to promote recovery and safe discharge
• Support unit staffing and patient flow as an engaged, team-oriented clinician

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state of Virginia) required
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (Med-Surg preferred)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Experience with Meditech EMR and documentation
• Comfortable with 12-hour day shifts and every-3rd-weekend scheduling
• Strong teamwork, communication skills, compassion, and patience

Knowledge & Skills

• Medical-surgical nursing best practices
• Neurological assessment and ability to assist with bedside LPs
• Central line dressing changes and central line care
• Tube feedings, feeding pump operation, and PEG tube management
• Wound care and Foley catheter insertion/management
• Proficient documentation in Meditech EMR
• Effective communication, clinical prioritization, and teamwork
