Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to progressive care and neurology patients
- Perform focused neurological assessments and continuous telemetry monitoring
- Administer medications and treatments safely and in accordance with orders
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to create and execute care plans
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, and self-care at discharge
- Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes accurately and promptly
- Recognize clinical changes early and escalate appropriately to improve patient outcomes
Qualifications
- Active RN license (Texas) or eligibility for compact licensing — must be able to practice in TX
- Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience (PCU, telemetry, or neurology experience preferred)
- BLS required; ACLS and neuro-focused certifications preferred
- Current CPR certification and other facility-required credentials
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced progressive care unit with strong assessment and critical thinking skills
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong neurological assessment skills including NIH Stroke Scale familiarity
- Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
- IV therapy, medication administration, and infusion pump competency
- Excellent clinical judgment and prioritization in acute care settings
- Clear, compassionate communication with patients, families, and team members
- Proficient documentation skills in electronic medical records
