Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to progressive care and neurology patients
• Perform focused neurological assessments and continuous telemetry monitoring
• Administer medications and treatments safely and in accordance with orders
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to create and execute care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, and self-care at discharge
• Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes accurately and promptly
• Recognize clinical changes early and escalate appropriately to improve patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Texas) or eligibility for compact licensing — must be able to practice in TX
• Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience (PCU, telemetry, or neurology experience preferred)
• BLS required; ACLS and neuro-focused certifications preferred
• Current CPR certification and other facility-required credentials
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced progressive care unit with strong assessment and critical thinking skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong neurological assessment skills including NIH Stroke Scale familiarity
• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• IV therapy, medication administration, and infusion pump competency
• Excellent clinical judgment and prioritization in acute care settings
• Clear, compassionate communication with patients, families, and team members
• Proficient documentation skills in electronic medical records
