Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting) to promote dignity and independence
- Perform safe lifting, turning, repositioning, and transfers using approved techniques and equipment
- Support mealtimes by setting up dining areas, delivering trays, assisting with feeding and documenting intake
- Monitor and document resident weights, skin conditions, and daily flow sheet entries accurately
- Report changes in resident condition promptly to nurses and supervisors to ensure timely care
- Participate in toileting programs and follow individualized care plans
- Communicate effectively with nursing staff, supervisors, residents and families to support coordinated care
- Float to other units as needed and support team members across the facility
Qualifications
- 2+ years of CNA experience required
- Minimum 1 year experience in Long Term Care (LTC) required
- 1 year travel nursing experience required (travel experience highly preferred)
- Active Michigan CNA license at time of submission (must be current)
- BLS (AHA) certification required
- Stable work history with no short-term assignments under 13 weeks unless justified
- No active disciplinary actions on CNA certification
- Two supervisory references from the last 2 years and skills checklist within the last 12 months
- Willingness to float to other units as needed
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification/licensure — active Michigan CNA required
- BLS (AHA) certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in resident ADL assistance and safe transfer techniques
- Accurate documentation and charting of weights, intake and daily flow sheets
- Ability to observe and report skin changes, pressure areas and other clinical concerns
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for teamwork and resident interactions
- Time management and ability to prioritize during busy shifts
- Basic infection control practices and adherence to facility protocols
- Comfort working nights and adapting to rotating schedules
