Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage emergency patients quickly and accurately to prioritize life-saving care
• Provide skilled nursing care in a 25-bed critical access hospital ED, including meds, IVs, and wound management
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the ED team to manage emergent situations
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond to changes in patient condition with appropriate interventions
• Document patient care clearly and thoroughly in the electronic medical record
• Support patient and family education and discharge planning with compassion and clarity
• Participate in quality improvement and safety initiatives to help the ED run better every day

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of Emergency Room nursing experience (per job posting)
• Night shift experience and availability to work every other weekend
• Current RN licensure eligible for practice in Vermont (state license or applicable compact privileges)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Strong assessment skills, stable clinical judgement, and comfort with a fast-paced ED environment

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage and emergency assessment best practices
• IV therapy, medication administration, and basic procedures common to the ED
• Cardiac monitoring and recognition of arrhythmias
• Effective communication and teamwork in urgent care settings
• Accurate, timely electronic documentation and handoffs
• Ability to prioritize multiple patients and tasks under pressure
