Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and triage emergency patients quickly and accurately to prioritize life-saving care
- Provide skilled nursing care in a 25-bed critical access hospital ED, including meds, IVs, and wound management
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the ED team to manage emergent situations
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond to changes in patient condition with appropriate interventions
- Document patient care clearly and thoroughly in the electronic medical record
- Support patient and family education and discharge planning with compassion and clarity
- Participate in quality improvement and safety initiatives to help the ED run better every day
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of Emergency Room nursing experience (per job posting)
- Night shift experience and availability to work every other weekend
- Current RN licensure eligible for practice in Vermont (state license or applicable compact privileges)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
- Strong assessment skills, stable clinical judgement, and comfort with a fast-paced ED environment
Knowledge & Skills
- Triage and emergency assessment best practices
- IV therapy, medication administration, and basic procedures common to the ED
- Cardiac monitoring and recognition of arrhythmias
- Effective communication and teamwork in urgent care settings
- Accurate, timely electronic documentation and handoffs
- Ability to prioritize multiple patients and tasks under pressure
