Shift Type: Rotating AM/PM shifts (04:00 AM - 12:30 PM or 12:00 PM - 8:30 PM). Schedule includes every other weekend and holiday coverage; shift type: day_night.
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $49 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform accurate phlebotomy collections across inpatient, outpatient, ER, PEDS, NICU and clinic areas using primarily straight needle sticks
- Receive, label, and process specimens promptly and according to lab policy to ensure patient safety
- Use Cerner and label-printing systems to document collections and maintain chain of custody
- Communicate professionally with clinical teams and lab leadership via instant messenger and phone when needed
- Follow infection control and specimen handling protocols, including newborn collections
- Participate in department orientation and onboarding activities to uphold unit standards
Qualifications
- CPT certification required
- CDPH (California Department of Public Health) phlebotomy certification required
- BLS certification required
- Minimum of 1 year of hospital phlebotomy experience including newborn collections; 2 years of experience is indicated/preferred
- Skilled in straight needle sticks; butterflies reserved for difficult draws
- Comfortable working across multiple care areas (ER, NICU, med-surg, clinics)
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- CPT and CDPH certification (required)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient phlebotomy technique and specimen receiving best practices
- Experience with Cerner and electronic health record workflows
- Familiarity with label printers and accurate specimen labeling
- Strong communication skills via instant messaging and phone
- Ability to work independently and escalate to lab supervisor when needed
- Attention to detail and commitment to specimen integrity
