Roles & Responsibilities

• Triage and rapidly assess patients presenting to the emergency department to prioritize care
• Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care for medical, surgical, and trauma patients
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and emergency interventions safely and efficiently
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the care team to develop and execute patient plans
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and families during stressful moments
• Document assessments, treatments, and changes in condition accurately in the medical record
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain department readiness for emergencies

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of Emergency Room nursing experience (position requires demonstrated ER experience)
• Active Registered Nurse license in Vermont or compact RN licensure as required by state regulations
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS preferred
• Strong assessment, triage, and critical thinking skills in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work rotating shifts including every other weekend

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of emergency assessment and triage principles
• Proficiency with IV starts, medication administration, and emergency procedures
• Familiarity with common ED workflows and documentation practices
• Comfort working independently in a Critical Access hospital setting
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and crisis management skills
