Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality diagnostic echocardiography exams using standard and advanced ultrasound techniques
• Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment and ensure images meet cardiology standards
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other clinicians to provide timely, patient-centered cardiac imaging
• Document exam findings accurately in the patient chart and maintain clear communication about results
• Ensure patient safety and comfort, explaining procedures and addressing questions with compassion
• Adhere to infection control protocols, quality assurance processes, and department policies

Qualifications

• Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or equivalent cardiac sonography credential preferred
• Certification through ARDMS or CCI preferred; willing to assist with licensure if needed
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required or must obtain upon hire
• Previous echocardiography or ultrasound experience preferred
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a small critical access hospital team

Education

• Completion of an accredited cardiac sonography or diagnostic medical sonography program preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent required

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in transthoracic echocardiography and general cardiac ultrasound techniques
• Familiarity with ultrasound equipment operation, image optimization, and routine maintenance
• Knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and common pathologies
• Comfortable with electronic health records and documentation best practices
• Excellent patient care skills and ability to perform under occasional high-acuity scenarios
