Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms and sterile instruments to ensure every procedure runs smoothly and safely
- Assist surgeons and the perioperative team by anticipating needs and maintaining the sterile field
- Perform instrument and supplies counts accurately and document per facility policy
- Support high-volume OR flow across orthopedic, neurosurgery, and general surgery cases
- Chart perioperative activity and case details in EPIC with attention to accuracy and compliance
- Participate in unit-specific orientation and follow OR checklists to maintain consistent standards
- Collaborate with charge nurse and multidisciplinary team to prioritize patient safety in a Trauma Level 1 setting
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA or NCST verification required
- BLS (AHA) certification required
- CO Dora certification required for Colorado practice
- Minimum of 2 years of surgical technologist experience, preferably in high-volume OR settings
- Ability to submit a valid driver’s license and be within a 60-mile radius as requested
- Comfortable working 12-hour day shifts and committed to being in-state for orientation week
- Familiarity with EPIC charting is preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong sterile technique and instrument handling skills
- Experience with orthopedic, neurosurgery, and general surgery procedures
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-case-volume OR (dozens of cases per day)
- Solid teamwork and communication skills with surgeons, nurses, and perioperative staff
- Familiarity with Trauma Level 1 protocols and rapid response expectations
- Accurate perioperative documentation and attention to detail
