Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patient condition on a MedSurg/PCU telemetry unit with professionalism and attention to detail
• Provide evidence-based nursing care including medication administration, telemetry monitoring, and patient education
• Perform charge nurse duties when assigned: coordinate the shift, prioritize patient care, and support the team
• Float to other units as needed to ensure safe staffing and continuity of care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Document patient care and communication clearly and timely in the medical record
• Respond to clinical changes and emergencies calmly and effectively
• Mentor and support colleagues to maintain a positive, patient-centered work environment

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license in Vermont or compact RN license (or ability to obtain prior to start)
• Minimum experience in MedSurg, PCU or Telemetry nursing preferred
• Comfortable functioning independently and performing charge nurse responsibilities
• BLS required; ACLS and other specialty certifications encouraged (if available)
• Ability to float between units and adapt to varying patient care needs
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of MedSurg and progressive care (PCU) nursing practices
• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Medication administration and IV therapy competency
• Prior experience performing charge nurse duties and shift coordination
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a small hospital team
• Comfort with fast-paced decisions and prioritizing multiple patients
