Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert CVICU-level nursing care to post-op cardiac and critically ill cardiac patients with compassion and precision
• Cross-cover CCU patients as needed to ensure consistent, high-quality care across units
• Monitor and manage hemodynamics, titrate vasoactive meds per protocol, and promptly recognize changes in patient status
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including Cath Lab staff (including Hybrid Cath Lab) to coordinate procedures and post-procedural care
• Participate in the on-call rotation and respond professionally to urgent staffing needs
• Communicate clearly with patients, families, and team members to support recovery and discharge planning
• Maintain accurate documentation and uphold infection control and safety standards

Qualifications

• Active Colorado RN license in good standing
• Minimum 3 years RN Critical Care experience (required)
• Day 0 CVICU experience is required — must be comfortable caring for immediate post-op cardiac patients
• BLS and ACLS through the American Heart Association (required)
• PALS (AHA) preferred
• Cath Lab and Hybrid Cath Lab experience preferred; ability to cover both CVICU and CCU
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
• Willingness to work 12-hour night shifts, weekends, and participate in the call rotation
• Nursys verification and proof of required certifications and flu vaccine at time of submission

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong CVICU and CCU clinical skills including post-op cardiac care
• Proficiency with hemodynamic monitoring and interpreting invasive lines
• Familiarity with cath lab workflows and hybrid procedural environments
• Ability to quickly triage and prioritize in high-acuity situations
• Excellent communication skills with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Dependable documentation and adherence to hospital policies and protocols
