Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts: 6:30 AM - 6:30 PM (day) and 6:30 PM - 6:30 AM (night); schedule assigned by manager and may include any day of the week; every-other-weekend and every-other-holiday coverage required (position is night-focused with 12-hour nights available)

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert, compassionate critical care to post-op and complex cardiac, thoracic and vascular patients in a high-acuity CVICU
- Manage and titrate vasoactive drips, sedatives, paralytics and antiarrhythmics safely and accurately
- Monitor and interpret telemetry and hemodynamics, responding promptly to changes in patient status
- Care for patients supported by advanced devices (ECMO, CRRT, Impella, IABP) and manage ventilator-related troubleshooting
- Collaborate closely with intensivists, hospitalists and multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated care 24/7
- Document thoroughly and efficiently in EPIC to maintain patient safety and continuity of care
- Float to other inpatient units as needed (excluding Maternity/NICU) while maintaining CVICU standards
- Demonstrate competency during orientation and skills checks to ensure safe, high-quality care
Qualifications
- Active RN license eligible for practice in Nebraska
- BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS required as listed
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience (with at least 1 year caring for CVICU/cardiac ICU patients preferred)
- Comfort and experience titrating drips/vasopressors and interpreting complex telemetry independently
- Hands-on experience with ECMO, CRRT, Impella and/or IABP strongly preferred
- Familiarity with ventilator management and advanced respiratory support troubleshooting
- Must have a valid driver’s license at time of submittal (radius/commute policy applies)
- Willingness to complete orientation skills assessments (open-book exam; 90% pass threshold)
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred but not required
- Active RN license in good standing
Knowledge & Skills
- Hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation
- Telemetry reading and arrhythmia recognition
- Mechanical circulatory support principles (ECMO, Impella, IABP)
- Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) basics
- Advanced post-op cardiac and vascular care
- Medication titration and drip management
- Ventilator basics and respiratory troubleshooting
- Proficient documentation in EPIC and strong communication with multidisciplinary teams
