Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by setting up sterile instruments, supplies, and specialized equipment
- Assist surgical teams across specialties including orthopedics, neurosurgery, robotics, vascular, urology and gynecology
- Operate and troubleshoot surgical robotics and support equipment during procedures
- Maintain strict sterile technique and ensure a safe, efficient OR environment
- Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments promptly to keep cases moving smoothly
- Document case details and instrument counts accurately for patient safety and compliance
- Respond professionally and promptly when on-call to support urgent surgical needs
Qualifications
- Surgical technologist experience in an operating room setting, ideally with ortho, neuro, robotics, vascular, urology or gynecology exposure
- Certification such as CST preferred or equivalent training in surgical technology
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willing to obtain
- Comfortable working on a rotating 4x10 schedule and participating in on-call coverage
- Strong teamwork, communication, and attention to detail in high-stakes environments
- Willingness to complete credentialing and licensure documentation for travel assignment
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on knowledge of operating room protocols and sterile technique
- Familiarity with surgical instrumentation across multiple specialties
- Experience with surgical robotics setup and intraoperative support
- Ability to perform accurate instrument counts and surgical documentation
- Good communication skills to coordinate with surgeons, nurses and anesthesia
- Adaptability to shifting schedules and variable case volumes
