Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide clinical oversight for the Occupational Therapy department, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care
• Evaluate and treat patients (approximately 80% clinical time), delivering hands-on occupational therapy services
• Directly supervise certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and Rehabilitation Technicians to maintain clinical excellence
• Lead the clinical education and competency program, developing and implementing training to keep skills sharp and compliant
• Develop, review, and maintain OT policies and procedures covering scope of care, evaluation/treatment standards, discharge planning, and documentation
• Ensure regulatory compliance with state practice acts, facility policies, and professional standards
• Oversee clinical documentation practices and quality assurance to support patient outcomes and departmental performance
• Contribute to program development and perform administrative tasks (approximately 20% of time) to grow and improve services

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Occupational Therapy (AOTA-approved) — required
• Current California Occupational Therapy license (Board of Medical Quality Assurance) — required
• Eligibility to practice in accordance with the California State Practice Act
• Experience supervising COTAs and rehabilitation support staff and conducting competency assessments
• Familiarity with OT policy/procedure development, documentation standards, and discharge planning
• Membership in the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) — preferred

Education

• Graduate of a school of Occupational Therapy approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical assessment and treatment planning skills for diverse patient populations
• Leadership and staff supervision, including mentorship and performance oversight
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance and professional standards in occupational therapy
• Proficiency in clinical documentation and electronic medical records
• Ability to design and deliver clinical education and competency assessments
• Program development and administrative skills to support departmental growth
