Roles & Responsibilities

Provide expert scrub/sterile technique support for cardiovascular OR procedures across all age groups
Prepare and maintain the sterile field and ensure instruments and supplies are ready and functioning
Anticipate surgeon and team needs during CVOR cases and proactively assist to keep procedures moving
Perform perioperative patient care tasks and document care accurately using unit systems
Respond to on-call notifications and mobilize quickly and professionally when needed
Work independently within established protocols and collaborate with RNs and the surgical team

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program (required for hires post-2009)
Minimum 1 year experience as a Surgical Technologist with Cardiovascular OR (CVOR) specialty experience
BCLS certification required
National certification preferred: NBSTSA (CST) or NCCT (TS-C)
Ability to work on-call as required

Education

High school diploma or equivalent
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program (required for hires post-2009)

Knowledge & Skills

Strong scrub and sterile technique for CVOR procedures
Perioperative patient care across neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations
Proficient computer and keyboarding skills for documentation
Sound judgment, tact, diplomacy, and commitment to patient confidentiality
Ability to function independently and follow unit protocols

Benefits
