Roles & Responsibilities

Prepare patients for nuclear medicine studies and deliver high-quality diagnostic scans following established protocols.
Administer radiopharmaceuticals safely and document doses and patient responses accurately.
Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot imaging equipment including gamma cameras, dose calibrators, survey meters, well counters, and thyroid uptake probes.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area and ensure required PPE and leaded protective equipment are used.
Provide coverage and collaborate with radiologists and other clinicians to support diagnostic accuracy and patient care.
Participate in teaching and instructional activities to support staff development and patient education.
Adapt care for patients of all ages, responding appropriately to developmental and clinical needs.

Qualifications

Current Hawaii license as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (required)
Current BLS/HCP certification (required)
One year of Nuclear Medicine experience preferred, but new graduates are welcome to apply
Demonstrated knowledge of nuclear medicine physics, radiopharmaceutical administration, and radiation safety protocols
Strong communication skills and critical thinking for independent practice in a rural hospital setting

Education

Current Hawaii license as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist
Current BLS/HCP certification

Knowledge & Skills

Nuclear Medicine techniques and patient preparation
Radiopharmaceutical administration and radiation safety
Gamma camera operation and quality control
Dose calibrator, survey meter, well counter, and thyroid uptake probe use
Equipment troubleshooting and basic maintenance
BLS/HCP and infection control practices
Ability to work independently in a single-tech rural hospital environment
Teaching/instructional skills and clear communication with radiologists and physicians
