Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide on-site medical care and injury prevention at contracted high school athletic events and after-school activities
• Evaluate, diagnose, and create rehab plans for athletic injuries, documenting treatments and progress thoroughly
• Manage concussion assessment and return-to-play progression, communicating care plans with athletes, families, and coaches
• Perform occupational health and rehab services (functional progress assessments, post-offer employment tests, job-specific conditioning)
• Coordinate schedules for event coverage and work as a physician extender in the orthopedic clinic (history-taking, scheduling surgeries, patient education)
• Observe and analyze injury root causes to develop prevention strategies and improve athlete safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, or Kinesiology
• 1+ years of related work experience
• Current Athletic Trainer license in Wisconsin (must maintain)
• Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Intermediate to expert computer proficiency and strong attention to detail

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, or Kinesiology (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Injury prevention and rehabilitation techniques
• Musculoskeletal examination and concussion evaluation skills
• Emergency care and occupational health experience (POETs, desk assessments, FPNs)
• Excellent documentation and clinical decision-making
• Strong interpersonal communication, problem-solving, compassion, and the ability to be a self-starter
• Experience functioning as a physician extender in orthopedic settings
